The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has invited shortlisted civil servants on Salary Grade Level 16 (SGL 16) to participate in oral interviews for promotion to Director positions on Salary Grade Level 17 (SGL 17).
The interviews form part of the 2026 Directorate-Level Promotion Exercise and follow the successful completion of the computer-based test (CBT) examinations.
The Commission announced the invitation in Circular No. FC.6243/GOV/2026/VOL.II/76, dated 27 October 2026, issued by the Office of its chairman.
Oral Interviews to Run From November 11 to 20
According to the circular, the oral interview exercise will take place from Wednesday, 11 November, to Friday, 20 November 2026.
Shortlisted candidates are required to assemble at 7:30 a.m. each day at Eagle Square, in front of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation in Abuja.
Candidates will be conveyed from the assembly point to the interview venue in line with the timetable for the exercise.
Candidate List and Interview Timetable Made Available
The Commission said shortlisted candidates have been identified by their examination numbers, with the list available on its official website.
The interview timetable is attached to the circular, which provides the arrangements for candidates participating in the promotion exercise.
Ministries and Agencies Directed to Notify Candidates
The FCSC has instructed Permanent Secretaries, Accounting Officers and Chief Executive Officers of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure that all shortlisted officers under their supervision are informed of the circular’s contents.
The directive covers officers serving outside their organisations’ headquarters, as well as those posted abroad.
The Commission said the instructions should be brought to the attention of all relevant candidates to ensure compliance with the arrangements for the oral interviews.

The announcement was signed by Ibraheem Zakariyya, Head of Press and Public Relations, on behalf of the Commission, on 28 October 2026.
The invitation marks the next stage of the 2026 Directorate-Level Promotion Exercise for eligible officers seeking advancement from SGL 16 to SGL 17.
