Only hours earlier, England captain Kane signed a four-year contract amid a media hysteria and came off the bench in the second half, but he was unable to prevent a season-opening loss against the German Cup champions.
Thomas Tuchel was enraged by the performance of the home team, stating that it was as if the team had not practiced at all during their four-week preseason.
Tuchel stated, “It is a major issue because it seems as if we have done nothing for the past four weeks.”

In an earlier attempt to clear the ball, Mohamed Simakan of Leipzig nearly allowed Bayern to score an equalizer by striking the post.
As was the case for much of last season, Bayern squandered half a dozen chances prior to Tuchel’s substitution of Kane, whose transfer reportedly cost a Bundesliga-record 100 million euros, in the 64th minute, to roaring applause from the home crowd.
Four minutes later, Olmo converted from the penalty spot to secure his team’s first championship of the year.
“It was an incredible evening. Over the course of 90 minutes, we worked hard to maintain possession,” Olmo said. “I believe it was a flawless affair.
“We expected to win, we wanted to lift this trophy, and there is no better way to start the season,” he said.
“We desire to be there. Our team is competitive.”
Bayern, who open the Bundesliga season on Friday against Werder Bremen, will be hopeful that the addition of Harry Kane will significantly improve their conversion rate in attack this season, a problem they have been experiencing since Robert Lewandowski’s departure last year.
