The Heartbreak Speculation However, speculation arose when Zac Goldsmith removed the post from social media shortly after Ellie informed him of her decision to reconcile with her estranged husband, Caspar Jopling. This development led some to wonder if Zac was deeply affected by Ellie’s choice to rekindle her marriage, as it implied a potential emotional impact on him.
Media Furore and Misinterpretation While questions circulated regarding Zac’s apparent heartbreak, sources close to the peer suggested a different reason for deleting the post. According to a friend of Zac’s, he removed the post due to concerns about how the media was interpreting the sculpture in the context of his relationship with Ellie. It seems that the sculpture’s resemblance to the singer sparked speculation that it was intended as a gift, potentially adding to the media scrutiny of their friendship.
The Sculpture’s Symbolism In the initial Instagram post, made just ten days before its removal, Zac described the sculpture as a “tree of life in bronze,” with more work to be done. He mentioned creating it in his spare time, focusing on subjects he loves, such as animal or human/animal love. The sculpture’s striking resemblance to Ellie Goulding fueled assumptions that it might have been intended as a personal gesture.
Friendship and Recent Encounters Zac Goldsmith and Ellie Goulding had cultivated a strong friendship after crossing paths at a UN climate conference in 2021. Their connection led to lunch meetings in Covent Garden seven months later and sightings at exclusive venues like the 5 Hertford Street club in October of the same year. More recently, they were observed sharing laughter near Zac’s residence in West London, a place he moved to after his separation from his wife, Alice.
While the removal of the sculpture post sparked curiosity and conjecture, it appears that the motivation behind this action was rooted in concerns about media misinterpretation rather than solely reflecting a broken heart.
