Cape Town City FC’s star striker, Khanyisa Mayo, is set to make waves in Algerian football with his recent transfer to CR Belouizdad.
The deal was finalized earlier this week after both clubs reached an agreement.
Mayo, who has made a name for himself as a top scorer with Cape Town City, left for Istanbul on Thursday evening.
His trip was to finalize personal terms with his new club and to meet with CR Belouizdad’s officials.
At just 24 years old, Mayo has signed a three-year contract with CR Belouizdad. Last season, he showcased his scoring abilities by netting 11 goals in 29 games across all competitions.
He also shared the title of top scorer in the 2022/23 DStv Premiership with 12 goals, bringing his career total to an impressive 31 goals in 101 matches.
South African Interest
Although Mayo attracted significant interest from South Africa’s top clubs like Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, Cape Town City’s valuation of the player was too high for these local teams.
This factor ultimately led to his move abroad.
