The Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD) has unveiled the victors of the 37th edition of its distinguished GenNext talent discovery program, a collaborative initiative with Lakm Fashion Week and the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). The quartet of winning designers—Rohitash Notani (Rosani), Charmee Ambavat (The Terra Tribe), Kriti Greta Singhee (Kriti Greta Singhee), and Shimona Agrawal (Shimona Agrawal)—are set to showcase their innovative collections at the forthcoming Lakm Fashion Week X FDCI, in Mumbai.

GenNext: A Platform for Emerging Talent

GenNext, hailed as a significant talent incubator in the fashion industry, has been instrumental in launching over 250 designers onto the Indian and international fashion stages. Recognizing the program’s considerable contribution, Sunanda Khaitan, Vice President of Lakm, accentuated the importance of GenNext in nurturing fresh talent, in alignment with Lakm’s vision for the future of fashion.

A Glimpse into the Winning Collections

The winning collections, each embodying the unique design philosophies of their creators, promise to bring a rich tapestry of styles to the upcoming fashion event. Rohitash Notani’s designs elegantly intertwine masculinity and femininity, while Charmee Ambavat draws inspiration from African tribes to create versatile, trend-resistant fashion pieces. Shimona Agrawal champions sustainability, employing handwoven Banarasi silk in her collection, and Kriti Greta Singhee explores the interplay of geometric patterns on organic silks.

A Rigorous Selection Process

The GenNext program’s selection process entailed an India-wide call for entries, followed by a rigorous evaluation by a jury of industry experts. Jaspreet Chandok, Group Vice President of Reliance Brands Ltd., expressed pride in the program’s success and its influential role in fostering young talent in the fashion industry.
