Following the Nevada Supreme Court’s decision that a new trial was required, a jury found the ‘Black Widower’ guilty of killing his sixth wife and the hitman he hired to kill her.The jury handed out the guilty judgment last week as Thomas Randolph, the 68-year-old killer who served as the subject of the 2021 Dateline episode “The Widower,” stared straight ahead without showing any emotion.

Prosecutors charged him with planning for his buddy and handyman Michael Miller, now 38, to kill his sixth wife, Sharon Causse, in what would have appeared to be a house invasion, in order to collect more than $300,000 in life insurance benefits, at both his most recent trial and the one in 2017.In May 2008, Miller fatally murdered Sharon after breaking into Randolph’s Nevada home while wearing a mask and carrying a gun.But in a shocking turn of events, Randolph betrayed his longtime comrade and killed him after spending several years on death row following his first conviction. Family members of his victims were ecstatic to learn that Randolph had been found guilty of the killing once more. When the verdict was announced, Colleen Beyer, Sharon Causse’s daughter, put her hands over her mouth.I’m so relieved, it’s unbelievable, she said, according to the Las Vegan Review-Journal. It’s been a twisted nightmare for the past 15 years.”I’m beyond thrilled that he’s off the streets and that he can’t do this to another woman again. I’m absolutely overjoyed.” She cried as she continued, “He’s a predator, and a severe predator.Since authorities started looking into Randolph in relation to Sharon’s death, he has persistently maintained his innocence.

Although a Nevada jury found him guilty of killing both Causse and Miller in 2017, the state’s Supreme Court overturned that decision in 2020, claiming that local prosecutors shouldn’t have relied on “prior bad-act evidence.”The testimony of several of his ex-wives was presented to juries in both the 2017 and 2023 trials, painting a picture of a violent, controlling, and abusive man who had a history of marrying and then abusing women. His first wife, Kathryn Thomas, and he were married in 1975 when she was only 18 and he was 20.

Kathryn testified in Randolph’s first trial that he was a domineering, cunning, and mentally abusive person. She divorced him in 1983.She related a story about how he once hurled a bowl of oats at the wall because it was devoid of sugar. She apparently relocated to Washington with her new spouse after getting remarried in order to put some distance between themselves and Randolph.

Rebecca GaultJust three years after she wed Randolph, Becky was discovered dead with a bullet in her head in the house they shared, the prosecution told the jury.On the same day that his divorce from Kathryn Thomas was finalized in 1983, the couple got married.

After her death was initially determined to be a suicide, Randolph was paid $500,000 by her life insurance policy. But soon after, police learned that the twisted criminal had once written lyrics about killing her, leading to his arrest and eventual acquittal for her slaying. To kill her, he also hired a hitman, who turned out to be a police officer.

Randolph admitted to interfering with witnesses, although he was never found guilty of her murder.Gloria AllmonAt his first trial, Gayna, Randolph’s third wife, told the jury that she thought he had attempted to shoot her to death. She admitted that Randolph shot at her once while cleaning his rifle on the day they got married. She thought her life was in jeopardy after the bullet blasted a hole in their kitchen. Charles ThomasA witness, Glen Morrison, said to the jury that Randolph requested him to kill Francis and fake the crime scene as a robbery, in a manner uncannily similar to how his then-future wife Sharon Causse died. Francis died in the hospital in 2004 after a botched heart operation.

Francis’ daughter claims that she was denied access to see her mother while she was ill.In addition, Francis’ body was reportedly cremated by Randolph less than 24 hours after she passed away.

Even though Leona Stapleton was his fifth wife, very little is known about her among the general world. During his first trial, her family informed the court that she had died of cancer.Randolph’s sentence has been scheduled on October 12 by District Judge Tierra Jones. In the past, prosecutors have stated that they will not seek the death penalty because of Randolph’s advanced age.
