Court of Appeal Overrules High Court, Upholds Alex Otti as Abia State Governor
In a significant legal development, the Court of Appeal sitting in Kano State has overturned a previous judgement by a Kano State Federal High Court that had removed Alex Otti from his position as the Governor of Abia State.
A Reversal of the High Court Decision
The appellate court, in a ruling delivered on Friday, reversed the decision made on May 18 by Justice M.N. Yunusa of the Kano State Federal High Court, which pertained to Alex Otti’s nomination by the Labour Party (LP).
High Court Decision Deemed Hasty
In its judgement, the Court of Appeal found that the high court had reached a hasty and erroneous conclusion in its May 18 ruling, leading to the reinstatement of Alex Otti as the Governor of Abia State.
Costs Awarded Against the Plaintiff
Additionally, the Court of Appeal awarded a cost of one million naira (N1,000,000) against the plaintiff, reflecting the court’s assessment of the case.
Stay Tuned for Further Details…
The implications and repercussions of this pivotal ruling are yet to be fully elucidated, and further details on the matter are expected to emerge in due course.
