Ant McPartlin and wife Anne-Marie decide to leave their £6 million Wimbledon mansion after local neighbours block plans to fell protected trees

After a year of navigating planning disputes, TV presenter Ant McPartlin and his wife Anne-Marie have made the decision to move out of their £6 million Wimbledon home.

The couple had poured significant time and money into refurbishing the property, but local opposition over tree felling plans appears to have contributed to their decision to relocate.

Lavish Renovations and Dream Home Plans

The McPartlins purchased the seven-bedroom mansion in 2019, a year after their relationship began.

They invested heavily in transforming it into a luxury family home, adding features such as a swimming pool with Victorian-style changing rooms, two single-storey extensions, and five reception rooms.

The property also includes a large open-plan kitchen, cinema, sunroom, larder, walk-in wardrobe, study, and office.

Planning Dispute Over Protected Trees

The couple ran into trouble when they sought to remove six trees – four cypress, one Weymouth pine, and a yew – which were protected under a Tree Preservation Order (TPO).

Neighbours strongly objected, arguing the trees were healthy and valuable to the community.

One resident stated, “The personal whim of the applicant should not override the benefit to the community and the environment in retaining these trees.”

In response, the McPartlins revised their plans to preserve the trees while still adding garden structures for leisure use, including a gym, games room, study, and studio.

The designs featured floating, lightweight structures that would minimize impact on the trees.

Moving On Despite Investments

Despite the extensive renovations and careful planning, the couple has now opted to leave the home for an undisclosed new property.

A source close to the couple explained, “They sank hundreds of thousands of pounds into their dream home but have now decided to go somewhere else.

Ant has plenty of money to make their next home exactly how they want.”

A Look Back at McPartlin’s Personal Challenges

The move follows a period of personal upheaval for Ant McPartlin.

He married Anne-Marie in 2021 after his high-profile split from former wife Lisa Armstrong.

Before moving to Wimbledon, McPartlin had lived next door to TV partner Declan Donnelly in Chiswick.

Ant’s career also faced turbulence after a 2018 drink-driving arrest that resulted in a record £86,000 fine and the cancellation of Saturday Night Takeaway.

He subsequently entered residential rehabilitation and later made an emotional return to work during Britain’s Got Talent auditions in 2019.

Family Life and Future Plans

Since then, the couple has celebrated milestones together, including the birth of their son Wilder in May 2024.

Anne-Marie also has two daughters from a previous relationship, and the family now appears ready to start fresh in a new home, leaving behind the Wimbledon mansion and the tree-felling controversy.
