When ITV revealed the 2025 lineup for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, one name quickly stole the headlines: AngryGinge.
For anyone under 25, that might make perfect sense—but for the rest of us, a little explanation is needed.
Morgan Burtwistle, better known online as AngryGinge or AngryGinge13, is a 23-year-old Twitch streamer who has become a bona fide Gen Z sensation.
With over five million followers across social media, his influence is undeniable.
ITV is clearly banking on Morgan to pull in a younger crowd, following the trend of featuring social media stars like GK Barry and Nella Rose in recent seasons.
And even before the Jungle gates swing open, the bookmakers have already made him the early favourite to take the crown.
From Bedroom Streams to Million-Pound Success
Morgan’s journey started relatively recently. Just five years ago, he signed up to Twitch, a live-streaming platform primarily focused on gaming.
His first broadcast in October 2020 featured FIFA gameplay, inspired by streamer Castro1021.
The beginning was humble: his first stream drew only 40 viewers, earning him £12.44.
He even took a break after a few months, feeling demotivated by an average of six or seven viewers.
But following the tragic death of his grandfather from Covid in 2021, Morgan threw himself back into streaming, posting content Monday to Friday, determined to make a name for himself.
Persistence paid off. Expanding to other social media platforms, he began making thousands from the comfort of his bedroom.
In the past year alone, estimates suggest he’s earned between £804,000 and £1.1 million.
Staying Grounded in Manchester
Morgan grew up on a council estate in Salford, Manchester, and he’s open about how that background shapes his connection with fans.
Speaking to indy100, he said: “I think it’s gone down well because people can relate that I’ve come from the same place they’ve come from.
I can bond with them and get to know them on a personal level.”
His Twitch bio sums up his approach to life online: “I’m ginger.
I have a joke and a laugh don’t be offended! My real name is Morgan.
I play games and stuff. Come watch!! (Main aim is to entertain).”
Even with his success, Morgan hasn’t forgotten his roots.
He still lives in Manchester, but last year he was finally able to buy his own home, having previously rented a “s***hole” apartment for £350 a month.
Celebrity Connections and On-Screen Moments
Morgan’s fame hasn’t been limited to gaming.
He’s appeared in charity football matches like Soccer Aid, where he famously clashed with Carlos Tevez after a strong tackle resulted in a nasty cut.
He even sang a cheeky parody of The Cranberries’ Zombie to taunt the Argentinian striker online.
While Tevez isn’t a friend, Morgan has built a strong bond with Wayne Rooney, forming a friendship through FIFA streams.
“Wayne Rooney is absolutely brilliant, just a normal, down-to-earth lad.
He’s hilarious and my idol growing up,” Morgan said.
He’s also close to KSI and appeared on Netflix’s InSIDE, competing alongside other reality stars and YouTubers for a £1 million prize fund.
Over the summer, he joined darts player Luke Littler on Celebrity Gogglebox.
Controversies Along the Way
Morgan’s rise hasn’t been without bumps. In July, he and two fellow streamers were arrested at the British Grand Prix for allegedly causing £30,000 worth of damage to a classic F1 car at Silverstone.
The trio was later released with no further action, but social media pictures of him being led away fueled the story.
Entering the Jungle
Now, Morgan is about to face a new challenge: the I’m A Celebrity Jungle.
He’ll be joined by a diverse cast, including model Kelly Brook, mental health activist Ruby Wax, soap stars Shona McGarty and Lisa Riley, Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp, broadcasters Alex Scott and Vogue Williams, rapper Aitch, and Jack Osbourne, who will be entering just months after his father Ozzy’s passing.
With his unique online persona, quick wit, and relentless energy, AngryGinge could be one of the most intriguing contestants of the year.
For a young star who started in a tiny bedroom streaming FIFA, this Jungle is just the next big adventure.
