…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. Nigerian activist Aisha Yesufu has reacted to a Twitter user’s claim that President Bola Tinubu plans to reward her with a ministerial appointment for her support.
Dismissing the report, Yesufu, a staunch supporter of the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, highlighted the prevalence of poverty of the mind and argued that there is more money outside the government than within.
Placing Value on Ministerial Appointments
Yesufu further emphasized that the reason people place value on ministerial appointments is due to poverty of the mind.
She challenged the notion by stating that, aside from corruption, there are greater financial opportunities outside the government.
Yesufu also questioned the public’s knowledge of ministers, suggesting that popularity and impact are not solely dependent on holding such positions.
Affirming Peter Obi as President
A few hours before President Tinubu’s inauguration, Yesufu publicly declared Peter Obi as her president.
This declaration comes amidst ongoing legal challenges to President Tinubu’s victory by Peter Obi and the Labour Party at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
Yesufu expressed her support for Obi and expressed hope that the Nigerian judiciary would use the election cases before it to uphold its independence and integrity.
Conclusion:
Aisha Yesufu’s response to the alleged ministerial appointment reflects her rejection of the offer and her belief in the existence of greater financial opportunities beyond government positions.
Her declaration of Peter Obi as her president further underscores her continued support for him and the ongoing legal challenge to President Tinubu’s election victory.
