Acting IGP Kayode Egbetokun Appoints Tunji Disu as Principal Staff Officer in Key Police Appointment

Disu, who previously led the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), will assume the role immediately.

Immediate Effectiveness of Disu’s Appointment:

According to an official Police communication, Tunji Disu’s appointment is effective immediately.

As the Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector General, Disu will serve as a key aide to Egbetokun in his new position.

Background and Educational Achievements:

Commissioner of Police Tunji Disu holds a bachelor’s degree in English Education from Lagos State University (LASU).

He was born on April 13, 1966, in Lagos Island, Lagos State. Disu also holds two master’s degrees, one in Public Administration from Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State, and another in Criminology, Security, and Legal Psychology from Lagos State University.

Professional Training and Experience:

With a career spanning over three decades, Disu joined the police force on May 18, 1992.

He has undergone various professional training courses both domestically and internationally.

Notable among these are the Small Arms Smuggling Training in Botswana, Internet Fraud Training at Cambridge University in the UK, Strategic Leadership Command Course at the Police Staff College in Jos, and Forensic Investigations and Criminal Intelligence Course at the University of Lagos.

Previous Roles and Achievements:

Disu was appointed as the Commander of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) on August 2, 2021, following the suspension of DCP Abba Kyari.

He has also served as the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos State, leading successful operations and arrests of criminals, particularly fraudsters.

Furthermore, he held the position of Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Department of Operations at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Additionally, Disu served as the second in command at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Rivers State.
