234Finance unveils Pitch2Scale Africa competition in Lagos to empower entrepreneurs with funding and global growth opportunities

In a major boost for Africa’s rising startup scene, 234Finance has unveiled an exciting new opportunity for entrepreneurs across the continent — the Pitch2Scale Africa Competition.

The initiative will take center stage at the Mentor Matchup Challenge (MMC) 7.0, set to take place from December 4–5, 2025, at the Lagos Oriental Hotel.

The event is designed to connect bright African founders with investors, mentors, and strategic partners who can help turn innovative ideas into scalable businesses.

A Partnership Built to Empower African Founders

Developed in collaboration with seasoned angel investor Sam Uduma, the Pitch2Scale Africa Competition is focused on more than just funding — it’s about helping entrepreneurs access the tools and visibility needed to expand into new markets.

According to the organizers, the standout entrepreneur from the competition will receive a $10,000 investment and access to strategic business support, mentorship, and market exposure to accelerate their company’s growth.

Preparing Africa for a Global Innovation Future

Ezinne Nwazulu, Managing Partner at 234Finance and convener of MMC 7.0, says the initiative highlights Africa’s growing role as a global hub for innovation and trade.

“The future of trade in Africa will be massive,” Nwazulu said. “The world will look to this continent for solutions to its toughest challenges.

African entrepreneurs must be prepared to seize that opportunity, and MMC is helping build that foundation.”

The event underscores a forward-looking vision for African enterprise — one where local innovation can compete confidently on the world stage.

Sectors in Focus and the Power of Collaboration

The Pitch2Scale Africa Competition targets entrepreneurs in agribusiness, manufacturing, energy, hospitality and tourism, and the creative economy.

Participants will have the chance to pitch directly to a diverse panel of angel investors, financial institutions, business accelerators, and policymakers during MMC 7.0.

Co-developer Sam Uduma emphasized the importance of supporting bold African founders who can shape the future of the continent.

“My commitment to Pitch2Scale Africa is to identify and back founders ready to build scalable businesses that thrive both within Africa and globally,” Uduma shared.

Building Bridges Between Founders and Investors

Tolu Olawumi, Head of Partnerships at 234Finance, explained that the competition perfectly aligns with MMC’s mission of connecting innovators with opportunities.

“We’re creating a platform for African founders to showcase their creativity, secure capital, and form the right partnerships to compete locally and scale globally,” she said.

A Gathering of Africa’s Brightest Minds

MMC 7.0 is shaping up to be one of the largest gatherings of entrepreneurs and investors on the continent.

The event will feature over 30 top industry speakers, including representatives from family offices, investment groups, and innovation ecosystems.

More than 1,000 delegates from countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon, South Africa, Zambia, and Mozambique are expected to attend.

Beyond the Competition

While the Pitch2Scale Africa Competition is the highlight, MMC 7.0 promises much more.

Attendees can look forward to mentorship clinics, financial advisory sessions, masterclasses, exhibitions, and exclusive networking opportunities with investors ready to fund promising ventures.
