Woman Narrowly Escapes Serious Injury After Speeding Motorcyclist Sideswipes Her While She Enjoys a Night Out with Friends in Sapopemba, São Paulo

Thamiris Ferreira’s evening with friends in Brazil nearly took a horrifying turn when a speeding motorcyclist struck her while she was enjoying a relaxing moment outside a wine bar.

What was meant to be a carefree night in Sapopemba, São Paulo, nearly ended in tragedy as the biker sideswiped Ferreira, sending her flying out of her seat and onto the street.

The Shocking Moment

In a dramatic video captured by onlookers, Ferreira is seen sitting at a street-side table when the motorcyclist zooms past, clipping her with such force that it knocks her off balance.

The impact causes Ferreira to slide along the road while her friends, stunned and helpless, watch the chaos unfold.

The motorcyclist, who was speeding, lost control and crashed to the ground.

A Miraculous Escape

Miraculously, Ferreira escaped the incident with only bruises on her arms, legs, hips, and back.

“I just remember that I was sitting, talking, holding a bottle and my bag, and then I felt the impact,” Ferreira shared with Brazilian news outlet G1.

“It was so violent, and I was lucky I didn’t break anything.”

What Could Have Been Worse

In another interview, Ferreira, a manicurist, explained that the motorcyclist, a local resident, had been speeding around the area prior to the crash on January 5.

She believes that her injuries would have been much more severe if not for an unexpected twist of fate.

“What saved me was hitting another motorcycle parked nearby. Otherwise, I could’ve hit a car and possibly fractured my skull,” she revealed.

A Darker Context

This frightening accident came just a day after another motorcyclist fatality occurred in Sapopemba, where a 55-year-old man lost his life in a crash.

His young grandson was also injured in the incident.

The Stark Reality of Traffic Accidents in São Paulo

Tragic traffic accidents continue to be a significant issue in São Paulo.

According to Department of Traffic data, the state saw a staggering 5,594 traffic fatalities between January and November 2024.

Of these, 2,390 were motorcyclists, making up more than 40% of the total traffic deaths.

Additionally, 1,273 pedestrians were run over during the same period.

This incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers on the road and the impact of reckless driving.
