The decision to sack Coach Amrouche unfolded after Tanzania faced Morocco in their opening Group F match of the AFCON on January 17.

Amidst the post-game discussions, Coach Amrouche accused Morocco of influencing the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and manipulating the selection of match officials.
This accusation did not sit well with CAF, resulting in an eight-match suspension and a $10,000 fine for the Tanzanian coach.

In response to Coach Amrouche’s suspension and to maintain team stability during AFCON, the Tanzanian Football Federation promptly made the decision to terminate his contract.
The Executive Committee of TFF released a statement confirming the suspension and the appointment of Hemed Morocco as the Acting Coach, assisted by Juma Mgunda.
