A disturbing video captures the entrance of a racially motivated gunman into a Dollar General store in Jacksonville, where he proceeded to shoot and kill three innocent individuals. The identified gunman, Ryan Palmeter, aged 21, was confirmed by the police on Sunday. Alongside this revelation, details of a manifesto he left behind were shared, describing it as the “diary of a madman.”

Palmeter employed an AR-15 assault rifle adorned with Nazi swastikas during the tragic incident on Saturday. After the assault, he turned the weapon on himself, according to statements from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff T.K. Waters indicated that the assailant held a deep-seated racial hatred, specifically targeting black individuals. He characterized the event as a somber day in the history of Jacksonville.

Before the attack, Palmeter left his residence in Clay County at 11:39 AM to head to Jacksonville. He sent a text to his father, urging him to check his computer. Alarmed by the manifesto they found, his parents contacted the sheriff’s office at 1:53 PM, but the attack had already commenced.

The victims, two African-American men and one woman, lost their lives in the assault. Palmeter was observed donning tactical gear at the nearby Edward Waters University campus moments before the attack. Despite security’s attempt to detain him, he managed to escape.

The incident is under investigation as a hate crime by both local authorities and the FBI. The gunman’s parents discovered a manifesto outlining his racial hatred, which he also shared with the police and media before the attack.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis condemned the shooter’s actions and labeled him a “coward” for taking his own life. The incident has prompted shock and grief in the community, leading to prayer circles and discussions of the tragedy’s impact.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue teams swiftly responded to the scene, while local lanes of King Street were cordoned off. A vigil has been planned to honor the victims, emphasizing unity against such acts of violence.
