A tragic incident unfolded early this morning in Moss Side, Manchester, where two individuals were found dead from stab wounds.
The police have launched a double murder investigation following the discovery of the victims on Great Southern Street, just south of the city center.
Emergency Response and Arrest
Emergency services were quickly on the scene, but despite their efforts, both victims were pronounced dead at the location.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has since arrested a man on suspicion of murder and established a large cordon around the area as part of their investigation.
The full length of Great Southern Street has been closed to traffic, and forensic tents have been set up in key areas for investigation.
Residents in Shock and Disbelief
One local resident shared their shock at the events, revealing they had been unable to leave their house due to the police presence.
The resident, who had witnessed the aftermath from their window around 4 a.m., described seeing two people lying on the street.
“It’s terrifying,” they said. “I’ve never seen anything like this in my life.”
Police Statement and Ongoing Investigation
In a statement, GMP confirmed the tragic deaths and reassured the public that a thorough investigation is underway.
Officers had responded between 4 and 5 a.m. to the incident, and while emergency services tried their best to assist, both victims were confirmed dead at the scene.
GMP is urging people to avoid the area as they continue to gather evidence and piece together the details surrounding the crime.
This story is still developing, and authorities are expected to provide more information as the investigation progresses.
