A shocking discovery unfolded in Wittenberg, Saxony-Anhalt, when the bodies of twin baby girls were found in a German apartment.

The disturbing scene was uncovered after a 29-year-old woman, who lived in the flat, arrived at the hospital with severe abdominal pain.

Medical staff immediately noticed signs that suggested the woman had recently been pregnant.

A Relative’s Gruesome Discovery

The woman’s relative, identified as the girls’ grandmother, went to the apartment to bring her clothes.

While there, she stumbled upon several plastic bags in the bathtub.

Police Investigate and Confirm Tragic Findings

The next day, an autopsy performed at the Halle Forensic Medicine Department confirmed that both babies had died from oxygen deprivation, but they had been alive at birth.

Woman Arrested on Suspicion of Manslaughter

Homicide officers and forensic specialists thoroughly examined the flat, and the woman was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.
