Trump Rules Out Jamie Dimon From His Administration, Confirming He Will Not Serve as Treasury Secretary Amid Financial and Political Backing

President-elect Donald Trump took to Truth Social to confirm that Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, will not be part of his administration.

Despite speculation that Dimon could be nominated for a prominent role, such as Treasury Secretary, Trump made it clear that the banking executive would not be joining his team.

A Public Statement on Dimon

Trump shared his respect for Dimon’s leadership but made it known that Dimon would not be invited to serve in his administration.

“I respect Jamie Dimon, of JPMorgan Chase, greatly, but he will not be invited to be a part of the Trump Administration. I thank Jamie for his outstanding service to our country!” Trump wrote.

This statement followed reports, including one from Reuters, that Dimon had already decided against joining the White House.

Dimon’s Support for Kamala Harris

Although Dimon did not publicly back Trump during the election, he was quietly supportive of Vice President Kamala Harris.

The New York Times reported in October that Dimon had aligned himself with Harris.

His wife, Judy Dimon, took even more visible steps by canvassing for Harris in Michigan and contributing nearly $200,000 to the Democratic National Committee.

Additionally, she gave the maximum allowable donation to Harris’ campaign and supported Democratic Senate candidate Rep. Elissa Slotkin in Michigan.

Jamie Dimon’s Background and Influence

With a net worth estimated at around $2.5 billion, Dimon is widely respected for his leadership during the 2008 financial crisis.

As the head of JPMorgan Chase for almost 19 years, Dimon’s decision to stay out of politics this election cycle was driven by concerns over potential repercussions, especially from Trump’s camp.

Trump’s Cabinet Choices Raise Eyebrows

Trump’s cabinet selections have already raised eyebrows, with the appointment of controversial figures like former Rep. Matt Gaetz as attorney general and Fox News anchor Pete Hegseth as Pentagon chief.

But Trump has also made it clear who won’t be joining his administration, even if they’ve expressed disinterest.

Recently, he announced that former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo would not return to their roles.

Nikki Haley’s Stance on Rejoining the Administration

Nikki Haley clarified her position on Trump’s administration during her SiriusXM show, explaining that Trump was aware she did not want to rejoin his team.

She recalled a conversation with Trump’s close friend, Steve Witkoff, who asked if she desired anything from the administration.

Haley stated firmly that she had no intention of returning to work for Trump.

Despite their rivalry during the 2024 Republican primary, Haley later endorsed Trump, although she did not campaign for him in person, opting instead to support other Republican candidates, like Senate hopeful Dave McCormick in Pennsylvania.

Looking Ahead

Trump’s appointment process continues to captivate attention, as political observers eagerly await the full picture of who will fill the key roles in his administration.

While some names are ruled out, others may soon emerge as potential candidates for pivotal positions.
