Tom Brady Opens Up on the Challenges of Adjusting to Retirement

Tom Brady’s Perspective on Retirement

Tom Brady has opened up on the stress of watching NFL games from his sofa, as he is still coming to terms with adjusting to ‘a totally new life’ as a retired quarterback.

Challenges of Being a Spectator

The 46-year-old, seven-time Super Bowl champ, revealed what it’s like to suddenly become a regular football fan after 23 seasons in the NFL, following the Patriots’ Week 5 loss to the Dallas Cowboys this weekend.

Difficult Transition to a New Role

Speaking to Jim Gray on the latest episode of his podcast ‘Let’s Go!’ on Apple, Brady said that he finds it ‘hard’ to ‘just games’ nowadays.

‘If you’re part of a loss, you don’t care about anyone else’s losses. You just care about your loss,’ he added.

‘If you win, you look around and go ‘all right, who else lost?”

Reflections on His Impact in Football

‘Football’s a tough sport. It’s brutally tough, and again I was in it, and I had a very big impact on every single game.’

Brady, widely considered one of the greatest players in NFL history, clarified that he had never really thought about what it would be like to one day be watching snaps from the stands or his home.

‘I have zero impact on any games,’ he said of this year’s league action. ‘I didn’t have that perspective even when I was playing.’

New Ventures and Challenges

‘This is a totally new life I’m living right now too…32 years of playing and now I’m on the outside looking in.’ Brady, a father of three, recently became a minority owner of the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces and awaits approval from the NFL on his Raiders bid.

He has also been involved in a lawsuit related to promoting unregistered FTX securities and faced financial losses when the cryptocurrency firm filed for bankruptcy.

Trial of FTX’s Former CEO

FTX’s former CEO Sam Bankman-Fried is currently on trial for fraud this week.
