The incident unfolded at the Continental high-rise apartment building on Commerce Street around 12:15 PM on Thursday.

Eyewitness Account
A resident of the building shared her terrifying experience with the Dallas Morning News.
She reported hearing gunshots shortly after noon and, overwhelmed with fear, sought refuge in her closet while calling 911.
“I needed to secure myself; I was shaking so bad,” she recounted.
She expressed her distress, saying, “My lease isn’t supposed to end until later this year, but let me tell you, it ends today. I don’t feel safe anymore.”
Police Response and Investigation
Dallas Police Lieutenant Tramese Jones provided an update later in the day, confirming that the investigation is ongoing.
