TEMS BECOMES THE FIRST NIGERIAN ARTISTE TO DEBUT AT NO. 1 ON BILLBOARD HOT 100

Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has made history as the first Nigerian artiste to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with her feature on Future’s new song ‘Wait for U.’

The track, which also features Drake, is Future’s second Hot 100 lead single, Drake’s 10th and Tems’ landmark No. 1

Off Future’s new album “I Never Liked You” the single ‘Wait for U’ is one of the three Future tracks on the Hot 100’s top 10 this week, ‘Puffin on Zootiez’at No. 4, ‘712PM,’ at No. 8, and ‘I’m Dat *BLEEP BLEEP*’, at No. 10.

The music video for ‘Wait for You’, was released last week, with Future and Drake making an appearance, while Tems was a no show.

Last year, Tems collaboration with Wizkid earned her a Billboard Top 10 hit. With ‘Essence,’ Wizkid became the first African musician to have a song in the Top 10 Billboard chart as a lead artist, and Tems’ first Top 10 hit.
