Pop superstar Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce are officially husband and wife after exchanging vows during an elaborate wedding ceremony at Madison Square Garden on Friday evening.
The couple’s marriage was confirmed shortly after 7:30 p.m. when the iconic arena illuminated its exterior with bright pink neon signs displaying the message “JUST&T MARRIED!” The announcement was followed by an official confirmation from Swift’s longtime publicist, Tree Paine.
Family Members Take Center Stage in the Wedding Party
Rather than following the traditional wedding format with multiple bridesmaids and groomsmen, the newlyweds kept their wedding party intentionally small.
Swift selected her brother, Austin Swift, to serve as her “Man of Honor,” while Kelce’s brother, Jason Kelce, stood beside the groom as Best Man.
The ceremony was officiated by actor Adam Sandler before an audience of approximately 1,000 invited guests.
Custom Dior Designs Highlight the Ceremony
The bride wore a bespoke Haute Couture wedding gown created by Christian Dior under the direction of designer Jonathan Anderson, marking his first couture bridal creation for a globally recognized celebrity.
Kelce also wore a custom Dior ensemble, while Swift completed her bridal look with jewelry from Cartier and specially designed shoes by Christian Louboutin.
Celebrity Guests Fill Madison Square Garden
The guest list featured some of the biggest names in entertainment and sports.
Among those arriving early were actor Bradley Cooper, who attended alongside model Gigi Hadid. Music icon Jay-Z and filmmaker Steven Spielberg reportedly traveled to New York by helicopter from the Hamptons for the celebration.
Other notable attendees included Selena Gomez and producer Jack Antonoff, who had also attended the couple’s rehearsal dinner the previous evening.
NFL receiver Cooper Kupp and his wife, Anna Marie Kupp, were also among the guests seen entering the venue.
Lavish Celebration Carries Multi-Million-Dollar Price Tag
Industry estimates place the total cost of the wedding at more than $15 million.
The figure reportedly covers exclusive venue use, elaborate decorations, catering, security operations, insurance, permits and other logistical arrangements that transformed Madison Square Garden into a luxury wedding venue.
Guest arrivals began around 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time, with permits indicating festivities could continue into the early hours of Saturday morning.
Tight Security Surrounds High-Profile Event
Extensive security measures were put in place throughout the day to protect the high-profile celebration.
Large sections of streets surrounding Madison Square Garden were closed to both vehicles and pedestrians, while arriving guests entered through concealed access points shielded by large black privacy curtains.
Media access near the venue was heavily restricted, with law enforcement enforcing street closures throughout the event. Reports also indicated that public funds exceeding $1 million were allocated toward the NYPD security operation supporting the wedding.
Summer Storm Follows the Ceremony
Shortly after the couple exchanged vows, severe weather swept across New York City.
Heavy rain, thunder and lightning moved through Manhattan as guests transitioned from the ceremony to the reception inside Madison Square Garden, creating a dramatic backdrop for the evening’s celebrations.
Meanwhile, the venue celebrated the newlyweds on social media by sharing an image of the illuminated “JUST&T MARRIED!” display along with the phrase “It’s a love story,” referencing one of Swift’s best-known songs.
Fans Gather Despite Limited Access
Hundreds of fans assembled outside the venue throughout the day hoping to catch a glimpse of the couple or arriving celebrities.
However, strict security protocols prevented public viewing, with blacked-out SUVs transporting guests directly behind privacy barriers. Some attendees expressed disappointment over the absence of a public red carpet or opportunities to see the newlyweds.
Elsewhere in the city, the Empire State Building announced plans to illuminate the landmark in blue as a tribute to the occasion, describing the display as Swift’s “something blue.”
