Just when NFL fans thought Aaron Rodgers’ free agency saga was finally wrapped up with a neat bow, Skip Bayless decided to tear it apart with one of his signature tirades.
The sports pundit is not holding back his thoughts on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ decision to bring the 41-year-old quarterback onboard—and let’s just say, it’s not a warm welcome.
A Five-Minute Meltdown on Social Media
Bayless took to social media to unload a more-than-five-minute rant blasting both Rodgers and the Steelers organization.
With a tone soaked in disbelief and sarcasm, Bayless labeled Rodgers as a “washed-up diva” and criticized the team for signing someone he sees as past his prime.
His caption alone pulled no punches:
“I can’t believe the Pittsburgh Bleeping Steelers just signed a washed-up, 41-year old, finger pointing, blame deflecting DIVA.”
“He Was Already Done in Green Bay”
During the video, Bayless pointed to Rodgers’ decline in performance toward the end of his tenure with the Packers.
“He was washed his last three years in Green Bay,” Bayless declared, before referencing Rodgers’ lackluster stats in his final playoff appearances there.
He didn’t stop there—Bayless even claimed he had already warned the Jets about Rodgers’ decline before they brought him in.
“I Don’t Hate the Steelers—Now I Pity Them”
It’s rare to hear Bayless go from mockery to sympathy, but that’s exactly what happened.
“What has become of the Pittsburgh Steelers?” he asked dramatically.
“I don’t hate them anymore, I pity them.”
In Bayless’ eyes, the proud franchise has fallen into desperation by putting their hopes on a quarterback deep into his 40s.
Skip Bayless: Still Stirring the Pot at 73
At 73 years old, Bayless is far from mellowing out.
He’s built a career on controversy and explosive opinions, often clashing with colleagues and athletes alike.
Just last month, he went after none other than Tom Brady in a heated exchange about Shedeur Sanders’ draft future.
Trump Enters the Quarterback Chat
Interestingly, before Rodgers’ signing, there was a strong push for Mason Rudolph to take over the Steelers’ starting role.
That movement got an unusual boost when Rudolph made a public appearance at a rally for former President Donald Trump.
He was joined by teammate Miles Killebrew and Steelers legend Rocky Bleier, where they gifted Trump a personalized Steelers jersey.
Not one to stay silent, Trump offered his own endorsement for Rudolph:
“I happen to think a really good quarterback is a man named Mason Rudolph.
He’s tall, he’s handsome, he’s got a great arm. And I have a feeling he’s gonna be the guy.”
A Drama-Filled QB Transition in Pittsburgh
With Rodgers now expected to be the undisputed starting quarterback, any talk of a competition with Rudolph or Will Howard seems unlikely.
Neither backup has proven themselves as a consistent NFL starter, and Rodgers—despite his age—brings four MVPs and a mountain of experience to the table.
Still, Skip Bayless’ fiery reaction and the political twist thrown into the mix with Trump’s involvement only add fuel to what was already a polarizing decision by the Steelers.
