Fans heading to Hollywoodbets Kings Park on Saturday should prepare for wet conditions when the Sharks welcome defending United Rugby Championship champions Leinster for their Round 2 encounter.

The match is scheduled for an 18:30 kick-off on 3 October, with the timing coinciding with a period when showers are expected to be most likely in Durban.

Durban Forecast Points to Wet Evening

Durban is expected to experience relatively warm conditions during the day, with temperatures reaching approximately 23°C before falling to around 18°C overnight.

Rain is the main concern for matchgoers, with the forecast indicating a 55% chance of rainfall and an 11% probability of thunderstorms.

Conditions could become particularly damp around kick-off, with temperatures forecast at approximately 19°C and an 87% chance of rain.

Around 4.8mm of rainfall is expected over a period of roughly three hours. While the forecast can change, the possibility of sustained showers could have an impact on the playing surface and make handling the ball more difficult.

What Sharks Fans Should Wear

Supporters heading to Kings Park are being advised to prepare for the possibility of rain rather than relying on clear conditions.

A lightweight waterproof jacket or rain-resistant layer could prove useful, particularly for fans sitting in uncovered areas. An umbrella may be difficult to use in crowded stands, making compact waterproof clothing a more practical option.

Wet conditions could also affect steps, walkways and concourses around the stadium. Comfortable footwear with good grip is therefore recommended, while spectators travelling by car may want to allow additional time because of potentially wet roads and slower traffic.

Springboks Set to Feature for the Sharks

The Sharks will have several familiar Springbok names in their squad as they take on Leinster in what promises to be a major early-season URC test.

The return of experienced international players adds further interest to a fixture that pits the Durban side against the reigning champions.

The Parlotones to Perform After the Match

The evening may not end when the final whistle sounds.

According to The Sharks’ social media channels, South African rock band The Parlotones are scheduled to perform live at Kings Park after the match.

That could encourage supporters to remain at the stadium and continue the evening with live entertainment.

Expect a Cooler Evening After Full Time

Although temperatures should remain relatively mild, the evening could feel cooler once the rugby is over, particularly if rain continues.

The forecast puts the temperature at around 18°C, with a RealFeel temperature of approximately 16°C. Fans planning to stay for the post-match entertainment may therefore want to bring an additional light layer.

With wet weather possible both during and after the match, spectators should also remain cautious when moving through the stands and stadium walkways, where surfaces may become slippery.

For anyone attending the Sharks’ URC meeting with Leinster, a rain jacket, suitable footwear and a little extra patience could make the Kings Park experience considerably more comfortable.
