Sensational Proteas claim classy win over New Zealand to draw series

Considering how the Proteas were embarrassingly thrashed by an innings and 276 runs in the first Test, the emphatic victory on Tuesday represents one of their most impressive comeback wins of all time.

Prior to the start of day five, New Zealand had been reduced to 81/4 in pursuit of a target of 426, and there would have been some nervy moments when Devon Conway and Tom Blundell took that score to 166.

However, Lutho Sipamla then dismissed Conway on 92 with a superb delivery that trapped the South Africa-born batsman LBW.

Marco Jansen then stepped up to claim three successive wickets, which effectively sealed the result as New Zealand capitulated to a one-sided defeat.

Immense credit has to go to the Proteas for the manner in which they pulled off this comeback victory in the second and final Test, with both the bowling and batting departments complementing each other impressively.
