Ruud van Nistelrooy Reveals He Hasn’t Spoken to Ruben Amorim Yet and Remains Uncertain About His Future at Manchester United

Ruud van Nistelrooy finds himself in an uncertain position as he navigates his role at Manchester United.

Although he has been managing as the interim head coach since Erik ten Hag’s departure, van Nistelrooy has not yet had a conversation with the newly appointed manager, Ruben Amorim.

With Amorim expected to bring his own backroom staff from Sporting Lisbon, it leaves questions about van Nistelrooy’s future at Old Trafford.

Waiting for Conversations to Happen

Van Nistelrooy admitted he hasn’t heard from Amorim yet, explaining that he’s waiting for a conversation to take place.

“No, I didn’t have contact so far. There are no changes in that, I don’t know when yet,” he said.

While he’s uncertain about what comes next, he emphasized that his primary focus is on the team’s current performance.

“The most important thing for the club is to get the work done every day and in the game tomorrow,” he added, referring to the upcoming Europa League match against PAOK Salonika at Old Trafford.

Remaining Focused on Immediate Tasks

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, van Nistelrooy remains committed to his role and the team’s success. “I feel the responsibility to do well over the next week, and that’s my job. I’m focused on that,” he stated.

He also expressed his readiness to support Amorim, welcoming the new manager and offering his help.

However, when asked about Amorim’s ability to replicate the success he had at Sporting, including a dominant 4-1 victory over Manchester City, van Nistelrooy chose to focus on the present.

“I’m so focused on the present here, to comment on that is very difficult. I’m putting all my energy into the current squad,” he said.

Preparing for a Tough Game Against PAOK

Looking ahead to the match against PAOK Salonika, van Nistelrooy remains fully concentrated on achieving the best result for the team.

“We’ve analyzed them very well; lots of talented, experienced players, and they’ll be supported by 4,000 fans.

We’re ready to face a very tough game,” he explained.

With the stakes high, van Nistelrooy knows the importance of the upcoming fixtures, both for the club’s season and his own responsibilities.

Looking Beyond the Immediate Future

After the PAOK game, van Nistelrooy’s final task as interim manager will be the home match against Leicester.

“It’s a game of high priority for us, and we need all our attention on PAOK first,” he said.

For van Nistelrooy, his time at Manchester United has always been about helping the club return to its glory days, including their successes in European competitions.

As he prepares to hand over the reins to Amorim, van Nistelrooy’s focus remains on securing results for the team.
