Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has taken to his Instagram page to appeal to the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to release Nnamdi Kanu.
Expressing admiration for President Tinubu’s three-decade-long fight for democracy, Edochie praised him as a builder and supporter of men and women.
He humbly requested the president to consider releasing Nnamdi Kanu, addressing him as his father.
Background on Nnamdi Kanu’s Arrest and Trial
According to a report by Kemi Filani in 2021, Nnamdi Kanu was re-arrested and brought back to Nigeria to face trial.
Initially arrested on October 14, 2015, Kanu faced multiple charges, including terrorism, treasonable felony, and unlawful possession of firearms.
He fled the country in September 2017 following a military invasion of his home.
The Nigerian government later obtained a court order designating his group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), as a terrorist organization.
