Weekend Adventures of the Prince and Princess of Wales

Kate and Prince William recently shared a glimpse into their family life, revealing how they spend weekends with their children.

The royal couple, both passionate about sports, were spotted at the Wales vs. England Six Nations match in Cardiff this past Saturday.

Kate, 43, and William, 42, cheered for their respective teams, showcasing their competitive spirits.

Before the game, they visited the Sir Tasker Watkins Suite, a space dedicated to injured rugby players and their families, where they met those supported by the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust.

William, who is the patron of the trust, has been involved in helping players who suffer serious injuries on the field, and every year, the trust hosts a family day for the players and their loved ones.

Family Life: Rugby and More

The couple opened up about their children’s weekend routines, sharing how they often find themselves moving from one competition to another.

“At weekends we go from one competition to the next,” William laughed, while Kate explained that their two sons, George and Louis, are avid participants in rugby.

Louis, now six, has just started touch rugby, while 11-year-old George plays more regularly.

“They really enjoy it,” Kate added.

The princess, who is the patron of the Rugby Football Union (RFU), mentioned that their kids have been exposed to many different sports, showing the family’s commitment to keeping an active lifestyle.

William, who holds a similar role with the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU), also spoke with former players, discussing their careers and the ways they continue to stay involved in rugby, even after their professional playing days have ended.

A Warm Welcome at the Stadium

Upon arriving at the Principality Stadium, the royal couple was introduced to the 3rd Battalion The Royal Welsh’s Goat Major, Lance Corporal Shenkin, who’s known for his role as the regiment’s mascot.

They also met several notable figures from the Welsh Rugby Union, including Morfudd Meredith, the Lord Lieutenant of South Glamorgan, and other key members like Terry Cobner, Richard Collier-Keywood, and Abi Tierney.

The couple is well-known for their friendly rivalry, as William supports Wales while Kate cheers for England during the Six Nations.

After England’s impressive 68-14 victory, the royals made their way to both the Wales and England changing rooms to congratulate the players.

They then moved to the pitch, where they met Rodrigo Gonzalez, co-founder of Notpla, a company that won the 2022 Earthshot Prize for its innovative plastic-free food packaging, now being introduced across Welsh stadiums.

Looking Ahead: Kate’s Solo Engagement

This Monday, Kate will attend the Irish Guards’ St. Patrick’s Day parade for a solo engagement.

As the colonel of the regiment, she will be awarding long service and good conduct medals to soldiers, as well as presenting the traditional shamrock sprigs to officers and guardsmen.

Kate will take the salute during the march-past, meet with veterans, and spend time in the junior ranks’ dining hall, where a toast will be made in her honor.

In addition, she will connect with the families in the sergeants’ mess.

Kate had to miss the celebrations last year due to being diagnosed with cancer, but she is now gradually returning to public duties.

Last year, her absence was felt, with the Irish Guards giving three cheers for their colonel during the event, as she was recovering from abdominal surgery.
