President Trump Attacks Rachel Maddow Over Falling Ratings and Predicts Her Departure from MSNBC

Trump Fires Back at Rachel Maddow: ‘She’s Done’

President Trump recently went after MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow in a sharp post on Truth Social, claiming her show is on the brink of cancellation.

The former president didn’t hold back, stating, “Wow! Rachel Maddow has horrible ratings.

She’ll be off the air very soon.

” He also criticized MSNBC’s performance, calling the network “close to death” and adding, “CNN has reached the bottom.

This is a good thing.

They are the Enemy of the people!”

Trump’s comments came after Maddow made a comparison between him and Cuban dictator Fidel Castro during a segment.

Her remarks came on the heels of Trump’s pardons related to the January 6th events, which she discussed in a heated rant on her show.

Maddow’s Strong Criticism of Trump

Maddow, the top-rated host at MSNBC, unleashed her frustrations during a segment focused on Stewart Rhodes, the founder of the far-right Oath Keepers group.

Rhodes was convicted of seditious conspiracy related to the January 6th Capitol riot, which resulted in injuries to over 100 police officers.

Maddow, who has previously expressed support for defunding the police, criticized Trump for reportedly wanting to bring convicted felons involved in the attack to the White House.

She went further, comparing Trump’s rallies to those of Castro, describing them as “Castro-esque” with long, rambling speeches.

In her usual pointed style, she noted that many people in the crowd often left before the speeches were even halfway through.

MSNBC Faces Internal Struggles

MSNBC has been facing significant challenges recently, both with its viewership and internal leadership.

Earlier this month, former MSNBC president Rashida Jones resigned after what insiders called an “intense cycle.

” With the network’s ratings slipping, Maddow is set to return to hosting five nights a week, a decision made in hopes of reclaiming lost viewers.

She had previously scaled back her schedule to just one night a week.

In addition to these internal shifts, the network has been under pressure to diversify its political voices.

Recent reports have revealed that the new leadership at MSNBC wants to introduce more conservative viewpoints, especially as the network’s audience struggles to compete with Fox News and CNN.

Struggles with Viewership

The competition is fierce, and MSNBC has been falling behind.

In the wake of the 2024 election, the network’s primetime ratings have seen a decline, averaging only about 603,000 viewers.

In comparison, Fox News continues to dominate with a primetime viewership of 3.2 million.

Even in the first weeks of January, MSNBC’s primetime lineup averaged around 758,000 viewers, which is still far below the numbers seen at its rivals.

As MSNBC grapples with these challenges, the network’s leadership continues to navigate a delicate balance, hoping to rebuild its audience while adjusting to the changing media landscape.
