Police Investigate Reports of Stranger Approaching Children in Cardiff Park
The police in Cardiff are currently investigating claims made by parents regarding a woman who allegedly approached children in Victoria Park.
Concerned parents state that the stranger approached children, some as young as three years old, and made offers to get food together or asked personal questions about their names and ages.
Cardiff Council is aware of the incident and is cooperating closely with the ongoing police investigation.
Park rangers have been instructed to stay vigilant and report any suspicious behavior.
Local mother Shelley Davies, along with her friend, reportedly observed the woman outside the park fence, walking back and forth on Thursday.
As their children, aged between three and four years old, were returning to them, the woman allegedly approached the youngsters and offered to go and get sausages.
Shelley claims to have witnessed the woman approaching several other children in the park, inquiring about their names and ages.
She promptly reported the incident to the park rangers, although she felt there was limited action they could take.
Concerns and Reporting:
Shelley expressed her worry, stating that she and other parents are now in “fight mode,” actively seeking to prevent potential harm rather than waiting for an incident to occur.
She has notified local schools, the police, and a local councillor about the situation.
Another mother, Adelle Djaiz, also claimed to have been approached by the same woman in the park and felt uncomfortable during the encounter.
Adelle reported the incident to a park ranger, who informed her that no action could be taken unless a crime was committed.
Police Response and Council Cooperation:
South Wales Police have confirmed that they received a report from a concerned parent regarding the incident and that investigations are ongoing.
They have urged anyone with information to come forward. Cardiff Council has confirmed its awareness of the situation and is working closely with the police.
Park wardens have been instructed to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior witnessed in the park.
The reports of a stranger approaching children in Victoria Park have understandably raised concerns among parents in the area.
The cooperation between the police, Cardiff Council, and park rangers reflects a proactive approach to ensuring the safety of children in the community.
It is crucial for parents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
The ongoing investigations will hopefully shed light on the situation and help prevent any potential harm to children in the park.
