Patrick Mahomes Sr. Faces Legal Turmoil with Recent Arrest for Driving on Invalid License in Texas, Adding to Ongoing DWI Trial

Patrick Mahomes Sr., father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes II, faced another legal setback last month in Texas.

This follows a previous incident earlier this year, adding to a series of legal issues he’s encountered recently.

Court documents revealed that Mahomes Sr., aged 53, was arrested for driving on an invalid license around 8:30 pm on June 29.

This incident occurred in the same county where he was previously apprehended for allegedly driving under the influence just five months ago.

In addition to the invalid license charge, Mahomes Sr. received a warning for disregarding traffic signs, hinting at a possible moving violation.

He is required to appear in court by July 31 to address these charges.

Meanwhile, Mahomes Sr. is also preparing for a DWI trial scheduled later this month in Texas.

He was formally indicted on DWI charges in March this year, categorized as ‘Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More.’ If convicted, he faces a potential sentence of up to 10 years and a fine of $10,000.

This isn’t the first time Mahomes Sr. has faced legal consequences related to drunk driving.

He was previously sentenced to jail time and has a history of DUI offenses dating back several years.

Patrick Mahomes II, despite his father’s legal issues, has chosen to keep discussions about this matter private.

During a recent event, he declined to comment, stating, “It’s a family matter, so I’ll keep it to the family.”

Mahomes Sr., a former MLB relief pitcher with a career spanning 11 seasons, has influenced his son’s passion for sports, particularly baseball.

Mahomes II, following in his father’s footsteps, has excelled in both football and as a minority owner of the Kansas City Royals.

Recent Achievements Amidst Distractions

Despite the distractions, Mahomes II has continued to achieve success in his career.

He recently won his second consecutive Super Bowl MVP and has been recognized with awards like Best NFL Player and Best Athlete in Men’s Sports at the ESPY Awards.

Recognition in the NFL

At the ESPY Awards, Mahomes II was chosen over other notable NFL stars for his outstanding contributions to the league, showcasing his resilience amidst personal challenges.
