Pakistani police officers search almost twenty homes across the nation in hope to arrest Sara Sharif’s family.

Police Operations in Pakistan Pakistani police have conducted a series of raids on at least 20 homes in their relentless search for Sara Sharif’s family. Sara, a 10-year-old girl, tragically lost her life in Woking, Surrey, and her father, Urfan Sharif, and stepmother, Beinash Batool, are believed to have fled to Pakistan just one day before her lifeless body was discovered. The police operations primarily targeted cities in Pakistan, specifically Mirpur and Jhelum, according to reports from Sky News.

A Video Statement Emerges These police raids followed the release of a video statement by Mr. Sharif and Ms. Batool, breaking their silence regarding Sara’s death. In the video, they expressed their willingness to cooperate with British authorities and face their case in court. They referred to Sara’s death as an “incident.” The video marked their first public comments since the discovery of Sara’s lifeless body, which had endured “multiple and extensive injuries” over an extended period, as revealed by a post-mortem examination.

Contradicting Statements and Family Dynamics Ms. Batool, in the video statement, addressed the misinformation surrounding Sara’s passing. She disputed reports that Sara had fallen down the stairs and broken her neck, attributing this narrative to a Pakistani media outlet. Ms. Batool painted a bleak picture of their family’s situation in Pakistan, explaining how they were in hiding due to concerns for their safety, leading to a lack of food and normalcy for the children. She reiterated their willingness to cooperate with UK authorities and face the legal proceedings.

Sara’s Mother Speaks Out Sara’s mother, Olga Sharif, revealed her own struggles in an interview on Polish television. She spoke of how Ms. Batool attempted to prevent her from seeing her two children, one of whom is believed to be in Pakistan. Olga expressed her concerns about the dramatic shift in her children’s behavior, as they went from eagerly wanting to speak with her to avoiding contact and using hurtful language.

Heart-Wrenching Identification Olga Sharif also shared the painful experience of identifying Sara’s body at the mortuary. She described the extent of Sara’s injuries, with one cheek swollen and the other bruised. The memories of her daughter’s appearance in that moment continue to haunt her.

Complex Family History Olga Sharif disclosed that she had separated from her husband in 2015, and Sara and her older brother had been living with her until 2019 when a family court ruled that they should reside with their father. Despite this arrangement, Olga still had equal rights to see her children initially, but over time, it became increasingly challenging.

Family Members Under Scrutiny The search for Urfan Sharif, Beinash Batool, and other family members is still ongoing. Sara’s uncle previously claimed that Sara had fallen down the stairs and broken her neck, an assertion that Ms. Batool refuted. Imran Sharif, another of Mr. Sharif’s brothers, is assisting in the search for his sibling, and police in Pakistan are reportedly under significant pressure from the British High Commission to locate him.

Concerns of Hiding and Deception Imran Sharif has denied knowledge of the family’s whereabouts, and police suspect that the family, including Mr. Sharif’s parents and other relatives, may be hiding. Despite assurances from family members that they are unaware of the family’s location, law enforcement authorities remain skeptical, deeming their claims to be untruthful. Interrogations are expected to continue to uncover the truth in this tragic case.
