London-based AI procurement technology company Omnea has unveiled a new initiative designed to help employees transition from staff members to startup founders.
The company has partnered with European angel investment firm Firedrop to establish the Omnea Future Founders Fund, a program that will provide seed capital and mentorship to employees who want to launch their own businesses after spending five years with the company.
The initiative reflects Omnea’s commitment to nurturing entrepreneurship from within its workforce while supporting innovation beyond its core business.
Employees Can Secure Seed Funding After Five Years
Under the new program, eligible employees who have completed at least five years at Omnea will be invited to present their business ideas for potential investment.
Rather than undergoing a lengthy fundraising process, candidates will have a streamlined opportunity to secure financing through a single 30-minute pitch session.
Business proposals will be evaluated by Omnea Founder and Chief Executive Officer Ben Freeman alongside Firedrop Founding Partner Pietro Invernizzi.
Successful applicants will receive $250,000 in seed funding, with investment decisions made immediately following the presentation.
The simplified process is intended to remove common barriers faced by first-time founders and allow promising entrepreneurs to focus on building their businesses.
Investment Comes With Mentorship and Operational Support
The program extends beyond financial backing by offering successful founders a range of practical resources aimed at accelerating the early stages of company building.
Recipients will gain access to office space, operational assistance, and direct coaching from Omnea’s executive leadership team.
They will also benefit from introductions to an extensive network of experienced entrepreneurs, operators, advisors, and investors connected to both Omnea and Firedrop.
Among the prominent figures available within this network are former Stripe Chief Operating Officer Claire Hughes Johnson, Asana Chief Operating Officer Anne Raimondi, Sana Labs founder and CEO Joel Hellermark, and Wise Chief Technology Officer Harsh Sinha.
Their collective expertise is expected to provide valuable guidance for new founders navigating product development, fundraising, and business growth.
Omnea Continues Rapid Expansion in Enterprise Procurement
Founded in London with additional operations in New York City, Omnea develops an AI-native procurement orchestration platform that simplifies how organizations purchase software, services, and other business resources.
Its platform integrates purchasing requests, approval workflows, supplier management, and spending information into a unified system, helping companies improve efficiency while maintaining oversight of procurement activities.
The company has attracted more than $75 million in funding from investors including Accel, Entrepreneur First, First Round Capital, Insight Partners, Khosla Ventures, Point Nine, and Prosus.
Its customer base includes major organizations such as Spotify, McAfee, Synthesia, and numerous other global enterprises.
Entrepreneurial Talent Already Runs Deep Within Omnea
Omnea’s workforce has expanded rapidly over the past four years, growing to more than 200 employees across its London and New York offices.
The company notes that entrepreneurship is already embedded in its culture, with more than one in ten employees having previously founded businesses.
Those founders include Arie Barendrecht, former CEO of proptech company WiredScore, Ben Champion, co-founder of student marketing platform Fygo, and Chris Mansfield, co-founder and CEO of corporate learning company GoodCourse.
By creating the Future Founders Fund, Omnea aims to build on that entrepreneurial foundation and encourage more employees to pursue company creation after contributing to the organization’s long-term success.
Firedrop Strengthens Early-Stage Startup Ecosystem
Omnea’s partner, Firedrop, is a European angel investment fund led by Pietro Invernizzi and supported by a network of more than 150 founders, venture capitalists, angel investors, and experienced technology operators.
The fund focuses on backing startups in Europe and the United States during the earliest stages of development, typically investing between £100,000 and £350,000 from angel through seed rounds.
Firedrop has previously invested in emerging companies such as Model ML, Tracebit, Jack & Jill, Flexion Robotics, and Ciridae.
Through its collaboration with Omnea, the fund is extending its mission of supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs by investing directly in talented employees ready to become founders themselves.
