Nigerian Filmmaker Reveals Reasons Behind Funding Cut for ‘Happie Boys’ Scholarship, Sparks Debate

…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. Nigerian filmmaker and activist, Lucky David Udu, has come forward to explain why Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, the General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries, discontinued funding the scholarship of the popular security guards known as the ‘Happie Boys’.

‘Happie Boys’ Forced to Drop Out of School Due to Lack of Scholarship

The former security staff of Chicken Republic, who gained fame for dancing while on duty, took to social media to reveal that they were compelled to abandon their education after six months due to the absence of scholarship funds.

They cited the difficulties of finding employment in Cyprus, coupled with the high cost of living in the country.

Pleas for Financial Assistance and Apostle Chibuzor’s Response

The ‘Happie Boys’ shared their conversations with Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, in which they repeatedly requested financial aid.

They claimed that he either stated that he was broke or ignored their messages.

Apostle Chibuzor Expresses Displeasure and Claims Ingratitude

In an audio clip circulating online, Apostle Chibuzor expressed his disappointment with the behavior of the security guards.

He stated that the funds used to sponsor their education in Cyprus were derived from members’ tithes and offerings, and he accused the boys of repaying him with ingratitude.

Mixed Reactions and Lucky Udu’s Insight

The issue sparked a range of responses online, with some netizens labeling the security guards as ungrateful, while others supported them.

Lucky Udu, who claims to have direct access to Apostle Chibuzor, shared a post on Instagram shedding light on the situation.

He explained that the skyrocketing dollar rate made it difficult to continue sponsoring the boys.

The pastor had reportedly advised them to return to Nigeria, Ghana, or Benin Republic to continue their studies, but they refused.

Apostle Chibuzor’s Responsibilities and the Boys’ Attitude

Lucky Udu further disclosed that Apostle Chibuzor is responsible for over 4,000 students studying abroad.

The pastor sends the children to school, and their parents are expected to provide for them.

However, not everyone can cope with such financial obligations.

Udu also noted a change in the boys’ behavior, stating that they started dressing expensively and indecently in Cyprus despite their financial constraints, while knowing that the pastor could assist them.

He expressed sympathy for their situation but highlighted the need for them to seek support from their families if possible.
