…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has extended his congratulations to Senator Godswill Akpabio and Tajudeen Abbas for their respective victories as the 10th President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Election Results and Deputies

Akpabio and Abbas emerged triumphant in a closely contested election, defeating Abdulaziz Yari, Sani Jaji, and Idris Wase.

Gbajabiamila also acknowledged Senator Jibrin Barau and Representative Ben Kalu as the chosen deputies to the presiding officers.

Affirmation of Party Cohesion and Supremacy

Gbajabiamila, who is set to assume the role of Chief of Staff (CoS) to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, viewed the emergence of the presiding officers as a testament to the cohesive nature of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the triumph of party supremacy.

He highlighted that the election outcome reflected the unity of purpose and prioritization of the country’s needs over personal interests.

Recognition of Opposition Support and National Interest

The former Speaker extended his congratulations to all members of the 10th National Assembly, including those from opposition parties who put aside political differences in favor of the national interest to support APC candidates.

Gbajabiamila emphasized the importance of continued support from lawmakers for the presiding officers in fulfilling their constitutional duties for the benefit of Nigerians.

While expressing well wishes for the newly inaugurated National Assembly in their legislative journey, Gbajabiamila urged them not to neglect unfinished legislation from the previous Assembly.
