National Cinema Day is making its return for the second consecutive year this upcoming weekend, with major cinema chains offering discounted deals across the United Kingdom.
Residents of London will have the opportunity to enjoy a trip to the movies on Saturday (September 2) as this widely anticipated event comes back after its successful launch in 2022. Last year, over 600 cinemas throughout the nation, including both prominent chains and smaller independent venues, participated by providing special deals to attract movie enthusiasts.
The event garnered the attention of more than 1.5 million people in the previous year, and a similar level of popularity is expected this year. Participating cinemas are offering tickets to all showings for just £3.
National Cinema Day was conceived by Cinema First, a cross-industry organization, with support from the Film Distributors’ Association and the UK Cinema Association. Iain Jacob, the head of Cinema First, expressed that the current time is ideal for celebrating cinema-going in the UK, a favored leisure activity outside the home. He mentioned the success of recent film releases and the increased visibility they’ve provided to the film sector as reasons for celebrating the cinematic experience.
Numerous cinemas across the UK, ranging from smaller independents to larger chains like Vue, Odeon, Cineworld, and Picturehouse, are set to take part in National Cinema Day. The official National Cinema Day website provides a list of participating cinemas, aiding individuals in finding the nearest venue offering the special deals.
To purchase a £3 ticket for the designated day, individuals can visit their local cinema’s website and proceed to book tickets as usual. When reaching the checkout, the price should reflect as £3. Alternatively, they can visit the cinema in person to secure their ticket, though they should anticipate potentially larger crowds than usual.
The event includes a variety of cinemas in London, such as Arthouse Crouch End, Barbican Centre, Curzon Aldgate, Curzon Bloomsbury, Curzon Camden, Curzon Hoxton, Curzon Mayfair, Curzon Soho, Curzon Victoria, Odeon Covent Garden, Odeon Luxe Leicester Square, Odeon Luxe West End, and numerous others.
National Cinema Day offers an affordable opportunity for moviegoers to relish the big screen experience and is a testament to the enduring appeal of cinema.
