A resident from the Ekiti community, where two traditional rulers fell victim to suspected herdsmen, has expressed anguish over the escalating violence in the state.

The armed ambush led to the tragic demise of the Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola, during their return from a meeting.

Resident Speaks Out During Governor’s Visit

During a visit by the state Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, to the grief-stricken community, an elderly woman shared her distress, revealing that the slain monarch had urged community members to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last election.

She emphasized the community’s lack of peace, attributing it to the menace of herdsmen who have now extended their violence to targeting traditional rulers.

In response to the shocking events in Ekiti, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expressed deep sorrow and condemnation for the mindless murder of the two traditional rulers.

Through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu called for the immediate rescue of kidnapped pupils and teachers in Eporo-Ekiti, emphasizing that securing lives and property remains the primary responsibility of his administration.
