Late Thursday evening, four uniformed service members arrived at her door, prompting her to believe her son, 23-year-old US Space Force airman Cedric Eneluna, was hiding behind them, preparing to surprise her.
Instead, the visitors brought the heartbreaking news that her son had died earlier that day in a workplace accident.
Sharing her grief on social media, Locsin described the encounter as an unforgettable and unbearable moment, saying she initially expected to see her son smiling behind the airmen before realizing he was gone.
Fatal Heavy Equipment Accident at Vandenberg Space Force Base
Eneluna, a member of the US Space Force’s 30th Civil Engineer Squadron’s Pavements and Equipment Flight, lost his life at Vandenberg Space Force Base in Santa Barbara County, California.
According to the US Space Force, the fatal accident occurred when the heavy equipment he was operating rolled down an embankment.
Officials confirmed that no other personnel were injured during the incident.
The Santa Barbara County Coroner had not officially determined the cause of death as of Wednesday, while military officials said further details would remain confidential until the investigation is complete.
A Young Service Member at the Beginning of His Career
Eneluna enlisted in the Armed Forces on March 5, 2024, before reporting to Vandenberg Space Force Base in August that year for his first assignment.
Serving with the Pavements and Equipment Flight, he helped maintain critical infrastructure supporting the base’s launch, testing, and range operations.
The team, informally known as the “Dirt Boyz,” plays an essential role in ensuring the installation’s operational readiness.

She wrote that she would forever miss his phone calls, hugs, kisses, and the way he affectionately called her “Mama.”
Reflecting on his upbringing, she remembered how he once thanked both her and his grandmother for the sacrifices they made while raising him without a father.
Locsin also shared that her son had dreamed of becoming a devoted husband and father, adding that she had looked forward to one day caring for his future children.

Only five days before the fatal accident, Eneluna updated his Facebook profile picture with a smiling photograph of himself posing beside two dogs.
Originally from Bacolod City in the Philippines, he later identified Fayetteville, North Carolina, as his hometown, reflecting the journey that eventually led him into military service in the United States.

Senior leaders at Vandenberg Space Force Base paid tribute to Eneluna, describing him as an exceptional teammate whose positive attitude left a lasting impression across the unit.
Space Force Col. James T. Horne III, commander of Space Launch Delta 30, said the entire installation was mourning alongside Eneluna’s family and fellow service members, praising his dedication, strong character, and genuine concern for others.
Air Force Lt. Col. Seth Poulsen echoed those sentiments, describing Eneluna as someone who consistently volunteered to help, approached every task with enthusiasm, and embodied the qualities expected of an outstanding airman.
An official statement from the base further noted that colleagues remembered him as a positive influence who embraced every challenge with determination while making those around him feel valued.
