Nigeria Police Apprehend and Charge 14 Suspects for False Claims About Male Organs

False Claims of Male Organ Disappearance Lead to Mob Violence

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) command of the Nigeria Police Force announced on Tuesday that it has apprehended and formally charged 14 male suspects to court for making false claims about the disappearance of their male organs.

Incitement of Mob Violence

According to the police, these claims incited separate instances of mob violence, which could have resulted in the unjust killing of innocent individuals in the country’s capital city.

Police Statement

In a statement issued on Tuesday, FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, said, “The FCT Police Command has documented more than ten (10) cases of alleged male organ disappearance throughout the Territory, along with the escalating incidents of mob violence by enraged youths.

Preventing Loss of Life and Property

“It was only through the intervention of the Police Command that loss of life and property was prevented, and law and order were restored.

Medical Examination

“Fourteen (14) suspects who alleged that their male organs had disappeared were taken to the Hospital, where the Medical Doctor confirmed that their male organs were intact and functioning.

Charges Filed

“As a result, they have been charged with providing false information and inciting public disturbance.”

Appeal for Caution

While urging the residents of FCT to caution their children and wards against raising false alarms, the CP implored the residents not to resort to vigilante justice or mob violence, as innocent lives may be lost in the process, Naija News reports.

Successes in Combating Criminal Elements

Regarding the successes achieved by the command in combating criminal elements, CP Garba stated that police operatives from Kabusa Division, acting on credible intelligence, tracked and arrested one Adamu Idris, also known as Idi, a wanted and notorious kingpin responsible for a series of kidnappings in the Galadimawa/Apo, Lokogoma, and Kabusa areas.

Cooperation with the Police

He further noted that the suspect, who was sighted at Okada junction Kabusa and took to his heels, was given a hot chase and apprehended by police operatives.

Confession and Further Investigations

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of a 5-man gang who are currently at large.

The suspect is cooperating with the police to apprehend other gang members and will be charged in court soon,” the CP added.

Foiled Kidnapping Plot

In a similar development in September, one Abubakar Usman, who reportedly resides opposite Estate Galadimawa reported at Kabusa Division that two persons, later identified as Auwal Wada and Suleiman Hassan of Galadimawa village, threatened to kidnap him and his entire family if he failed to offer them Seven Million Naira (#7,000,000) ransom.

Arrest of Ransom Seekers

“However, an agreement was reached that he would pay five million Naira (#5,000,000).

The police operatives from Kabusa laid a siege at the point of collection in a bush around Shereti village. The two suspects emerged to collect the ransom and were promptly arrested.

Modus Operandi of the Suspects

“This has been the modus operandi of the suspects as they have successfully robbed their victims in the past. The suspects will be arraigned in court soon.

Arrest of Suspected Armed Robbers

“Also, Police operatives from Mabushi Division acting on credible intelligence trailed and arrested four (4) suspected armed robbers, namely; Oluwatobi Precious (an ex-convict), Theophilus Elkana, Ibrahim Usman, and Umar Ibrahim (ex-convict) close to Destination Hotel Bannex.

Recovery of Stolen Items

“Preliminary investigation revealed that suspects robbed motorists of their phones while in a traffic jam around Mobil filling station, Mabushi and zoomed off in a getaway golf car,” Vanguard quoted the police statement saying.

Confessions and Recovery of Evidence

It stated further that suspects confessed to the crime, while the said Golf car with Reg. No. DKA 288 RY, grey in colour, iPhone 14 pro max, and several ATM cards bearing different names and substances suspected to be cocaine were recovered from them.

Suspects will be arraigned in court at the conclusion of the investigation.

Discovery of Suspected Indian Hemp

Furthermore, the CP disclosed that in the early hours of Tuesday, 4 am, acting on credible intelligence, Police operatives from Mabushi Division carried out a raid of a criminal hideout at Gishiri Village where a total of thirty-six (36) bags of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered.
