Michael Keaton Resurrects Iconic Role as Beetlejuice in Long-Awaited Sequel: Exclusive First Look Unveiled by Entertainment Weekly

After more than 35 years, fans of the cult classic film Beetlejuice received an exciting surprise as Entertainment Weekly unveiled the first images from the highly anticipated sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

The iconic role of the mischievous ‘bio-exorcist’ is reprised by Academy Award nominee Michael Keaton, who effortlessly slips back into the character’s black and white striped suit and ghastly makeup.

Director Tim Burton expressed his astonishment at seeing Keaton embody Beetlejuice once again, describing it as a ‘weird out-of-body experience.’

Despite initial hesitations, Keaton seamlessly embraced the role, immersing himself in the quirky and chaotic persona of the undead trickster.

The sneak peek also reunites Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara, reprising their roles as Lydia Deetz and her eccentric mother, Delia. Joining them is Jenna Ortega, portraying Lydia’s daughter, Astrid Deetz.

The ensemble is pictured attending a funeral, setting the tone for what promises to be another darkly comedic adventure.

In addition to the familiar faces, the sequel introduces Justin Theroux’s character, Rory, although details about his role remain shrouded in mystery. The ensemble cast is rounded out by Monica Bellucci as Beetlejuice’s wife and Willem Dafoe as a B movie action star turned afterlife detective.

Burton teased that the sequel kicks off with a family tragedy, hinting at the mysterious events that set the story in motion. As with its predecessor, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice promises to deliver a blend of macabre humor, whimsical visuals, and supernatural shenanigans.

The original Beetlejuice, released in 1988, followed the story of Barbara and Adam Maitland, played by Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin, who find themselves trapped as ghosts in their own home.

When the Deetz family, led by Lydia, moves in and begins to renovate the house, chaos ensues, leading them to summon Beetlejuice for help.

Fans eagerly anticipating the sequel won’t have to wait much longer, as Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is set to premiere in theaters on September 6th.

With its star-studded cast, nostalgic nods to the original, and Burton’s signature style, the sequel promises to captivate audiences once again with its darkly whimsical world.
