London-based technology-driven secondaries investment firm Clipway has successfully completed the fundraising for its inaugural secondary investment platform, Clipway Secondary Fund I (CSF I), reaching a total of $6.4 billion in committed capital.

The achievement marks a major step in the firm’s expansion and positions it among significant players in the private equity secondaries market.

The fund drew commitments from 186 limited partners representing a broad mix of institutional investors worldwide.

Participants include sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, insurance firms, endowments, foundations, family offices, and other professional investment organizations.

Investor Base Reflects Broad Geographic Diversity

Clipway’s fundraising effort attracted investors from multiple regions, creating a well-balanced global capital base.

European investors accounted for the largest share of commitments at 44%, while investors from North America and Latin America contributed 21%.

The Middle East represented 18% of total commitments, with Asian investors making up the remaining 17%.

Among the firm’s notable strategic supporters since its launch are Mubadala Investment Company, Carmignac, and General Atlantic, all of which have played key roles in supporting Clipway’s long-term development.

Milestone Signals Growth Strategy for the Firm

The successful close of CSF I represents a significant milestone for Clipway, which was established with the objective of creating a modern private equity secondaries platform that combines experienced investment professionals with advanced technology and artificial intelligence.

The company has focused on integrating proprietary digital tools into its investment process while maintaining human-led decision-making supported by institutional-scale operations.

Leadership Team Expands Global Presence

Clipway is led by Managing Partners Vincent Gombault, Ingmar Vallano, and Benoit Verbrugghe, alongside Partners Inigo Weston, Joshua Manasseh, Jonathan Hillgarth-Williams, Harry Vander Elst, David Enriquez, and Adaleine Yong.

Under their leadership, the firm has expanded to 62 professionals operating across six international offices.

Its workforce includes 18 specialists dedicated to data science and technology, highlighting the firm’s emphasis on technology-driven investment analysis.

Technology Powers Investment Decisions

The firm’s investment strategy is centered on diversified portfolios of buyout, growth equity, and infrastructure funds, primarily across North America and Western Europe.

Supporting this strategy is Clipway’s proprietary Tech-Enabled Secondaries System (TESS), an integrated platform that assists with sourcing investment opportunities, screening transactions, underwriting, portfolio monitoring, and portfolio construction.

TESS has accumulated data covering more than 38,500 private companies and 3,400 private equity funds, allowing Clipway to evaluate secondary investment opportunities from the underlying company level rather than relying solely on fund-level analysis.

The platform incorporates advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to improve efficiency and provide investment insights, while final investment decisions continue to rely on the expertise and judgment of the firm’s investment professionals.

Portfolio Activity Demonstrates Early Scale

Clipway Secondary Fund I concentrates on diversified limited partner-led secondary transactions involving buyout funds across North America and Western Europe.

Since its inception, the firm has completed more than $6 billion in transaction volume spanning 1,403 portfolio companies across 177 private equity funds.

These investments were selected from a pipeline exceeding $267 billion in opportunities that were evaluated through the firm’s proprietary TESS platform.
