Manchester United Welcomes Andreas Georgson from Lillestrom to Enhance Set-Play Strategies and Individual Player Development

Manchester United continues to shake things up with their coaching team, and the latest addition is Andreas Georgson. Hailing from Norwegian club Lillestrom, Georgson joins the squad with a wealth of experience.

In a recent media chat in Los Angeles, manager Erik ten Hag shared some exciting news. The 42-year-old Georgson will focus on set-plays and individual player development.

This new role aligns perfectly with United’s ongoing strategy to enhance their game.

A Growing Team of Coaches

United has been busy expanding their coaching staff this summer. Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake have already joined as assistants, and Jelle ten Rouwelaar is now the goalkeeper coach.

Darren Fletcher has transitioned from technical director to first-team coach, working closely with Steve McClaren.

Georgson’s Impressive Background

Much like Hake, who previously managed Go Ahead Eagles, and Van Nistelrooy with his stint at PSV Eindhoven, Georgson brings a solid coaching background.

He has led Lillestrom, stepped in as caretaker manager for Malmo in Sweden, and gained valuable experience in England with Brentford, Arsenal, and Southampton.

Ten Hag’s Vision

Erik ten Hag expressed his enthusiasm about Georgson’s role. “We did a thorough assessment and decided to bring in someone who excels in individual development, fostering a winning culture, and enhancing set-pieces,” Ten Hag explained.

“We’re thrilled to have him on board and look forward to the impact he’ll make.”
