The Lagos State Judiciary is set to commence a coroner’s inquest on September 29th to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic demise of Lagos-based musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad.

Official Notification by the Chief Coroner

The Chief Coroner of Lagos State, Justice Mojisola Dada, issued an official letter dated September 26th, responding to a request made by Femi Falana (SAN), the owner of Falana and Falana Chambers and a prominent human rights activist.

This letter communicates the initiation of the coroner’s inquest process.

The inquest will be overseen by Magistrate T. A. Shotobi and is scheduled to convene at 12:00 p.m. within Court Three, Candide-Johnson Courthouse, located in Ita-Elewa, Ikorodu, Lagos.

The Chief Coroner’s directive seeks the cooperation and attendance of Falana and Falana Chambers to assist in the proceedings.

Femi Falana’s Request for Clarity

Femi Falana had submitted his request for a coroner’s inquest on September 18th, citing the controversial circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death on September 12th and his subsequent burial the following day.

In his letter addressed to the Chief Coroner of the High Court of Lagos State, Ikeja, Falana sought to initiate an official inquiry into the tragic incident.
