Following an active transfer season with seven new signings, including Gastón Sirino and Bradley Cross, Kaizer Chiefs are aiming to strengthen their squad further in the January transfer window.
However, to fund these new arrivals, AmaKhosi will need to offload some players and free up resources.
Making Room for New Talent
With interest in several promising players like Feisal Salum and Asanele Velebayi, Chiefs are keen on bolstering their roster.
But given the substantial investment during the off-season, a few current players will likely need to depart before these new signings can be secured.
Players Facing Potential Exits
Among those potentially leaving are Zitha Kwinika, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, and Christian Saile, who have yet to secure spots in the 18-man squad.
These players appear to be the leading candidates for release.
Additionally, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, who was benched for the first time this season during the match against Magesi, might also be nearing the exit door.
Coach Nabi’s Transfer Ambitions
Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has been vocal about his desire for more attacking players.
In a recent interview with FARPost, he emphasized the importance of quality across all areas of the squad, especially in attack, stating, “Our squad has a lot of quality players.
But I don’t think this is going to be the final squad. We are working on getting new players.”
Nabi also highlighted the challenges of finding top-quality strikers compared to defenders, explaining, “A big club like Kaizer Chiefs needs a high level of quality in all lines: in defence, middle and attack.
You know it’s easier to look for a defender than a striker. If you need top players, you need to take your time.”
He added that he and his team are actively working on scouting and profiling players, especially for the forward positions.
