Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Junior Khanye has voiced strong opinions about the club’s recent decisions ahead of the 2024/25 DStv Premiership season.

According to a report from FARPost, Chiefs have decided to part ways with four senior players whose contracts are expiring on June 30.

The players in question are Keagan Dolly, Sifiso Hlanti, Njabulo Ngcobo, and Siyethemba Sithebe, marking a significant reshuffle in the squad as the team prepares for a new era under coach Nasreddine Nabi.

In response to these departures, Chiefs have opted to extend the contracts of George Matlou and Edmilson Dove by one year, signaling a strategic shift in their roster management.

Junior Khanye expressed deep disappointment over Kaizer Chiefs’ decision to release Njabulo Ngcobo.

Khanye believes Ngcobo, a talented centre-back, should have been retained for at least another season or two.

He highlighted Ngcobo’s skill and potential, suggesting that the player deserved more time to prove himself amidst the team’s challenges.

Reflecting on Ngcobo’s tenure at the club since joining from Moroka Swallows, Khanye acknowledged the difficulties Ngcobo faced, particularly during a challenging period for the team under former coach Stuart Baxter.

Despite the setbacks, Khanye emphasized Ngcobo’s talent and expressed regret over his departure to ambitious Sekhukhune United.

Khanye’s Views on Other Departing Players

Khanye didn’t hold back in his assessment of the other released players.

Regarding Keagan Dolly, he noted the player’s underwhelming performance at Chiefs compared to his success at Mamelodi Sundowns, attributing it partly to injuries.

He also criticized Sifiso Hlanti for his technical shortcomings as a defender and expressed similar sentiments about Siyethemba Sithebe, suggesting they were ill-suited for Kaizer Chiefs.

In conclusion, Junior Khanye’s outspoken commentary reflects his passionate views on Kaizer Chiefs’ recent roster changes, particularly regarding Njabulo Ngcobo’s departure, whom he views as a significant loss to the team’s defensive lineup.
