Julen Lopetegui Refuses to Succumb to Pressure Despite Growing Speculation About His Future at West Ham Ahead of Saturday’s Clash with Everton

West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui has brushed off growing speculation surrounding his future with the club, despite suggestions that his job could be on the line before Saturday’s match against Everton.

The Hammers have struggled under the Spanish coach, managing just two wins in their last eight Premier League games.

This poor run has led to rumors that club owner David Sullivan may be considering a change if West Ham fails to secure a positive result against the Toffees.

No Signs of Pressure From the Top

Lopetegui, however, remains unfazed by the talk and insists that his relationship with Sullivan is as normal.

“I speak with him every week, just like always,” said the manager, emphasizing that their conversations focus on the current state of the team, without any signs of added pressure from the club’s hierarchy.

“We discuss the team’s situation regularly, but it hasn’t been any different than usual. It’s the same as it’s always been,” he explained.

Managing Pressure as Part of the Job

The West Ham boss went on to clarify that pressure is something he’s been accustomed to throughout his managerial career.

“From my first day as a coach, I’ve lived with pressure,” he admitted.

“I understand my role, what we are doing here, and what we can achieve.”

Lopetegui emphasized the importance of focusing on the task at hand, such as preparing for the next match and maintaining a strong work ethic.

“We focus on our daily work and the upcoming match. That’s what I do as a coach, and the players are doing the same,” he said.

Optimism for Turning Things Around

Despite the tough run of form, the manager remains confident that things can improve.

“We’re working under pressure, and it’s part of the job,” he noted.

“I’m sure we’ll have the time to turn this bad moment around and make it a positive one.”

For now, Lopetegui is focused on the upcoming fixture against Everton, with the aim of putting West Ham back on track.
