John Dumelo Honors Bet with Unique Gesture
In an unprecedented display of integrity, Ghanaian actor John Dumelo kept his promise to walk backward barefooted from Legon to Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (Presec).
This unusual act of commitment stemmed from a bet he made regarding the outcome of the 2023 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) final.
The Bet and Promise
Prior to the NSMQ 2023 final, Dumelo, a proud alumnus of Achimota School, had publicly declared that if Presec, a prestigious high school, emerged victorious against his former school, Achimota, he would embark on the peculiar journey of walking backward to the Presec campus.
Confident Beginnings
As Presec qualified for the NSMQ 2023 grand finals, Dumelo was confident that his team would secure the victory.
However, the competition took an unexpected turn when Presec defeated Achimota School and Opoku Ware School in the Math competition on Monday, October 30, 2023.
The Pledge Realized
True to his word, Dumelo commenced his barefoot walk from the Legon main gate to Presec on Tuesday, October 31.
He expressed his congratulations to Presec for winning the NSMQGrandFinale and his pride in Achimota School and OWASS.

John Dumelo’s unusual journey, from the Legon City Mall to Presec’s main gate, may not hold significant meaning for some, but it stands as a commendable act of integrity. He stayed true to his promise and celebrated Presec’s victory in a truly unique way.
