While Simon Barlow remains a prominent character on Coronation Street, the original actors who portrayed the character in their infancy have resurfaced in a completely different venture.

Simon, currently played by Alex Bain, has been part of various compelling storylines, from domestic abuse plots to entangling himself in the world of drug dealing.

Simon’s Early Portrayal

The character of Simon Barlow made his debut on the show in July 2003, and he was originally played by newborn twins, Oscar and Jake Hartley.

These infants took turns portraying the character as he grew up in the fictional setting of Weatherfield. However, their time on the Street was limited, coinciding with on-screen dad Peter Barlow’s battle with alcoholism. Simon was later reintroduced in 2008, with Alex Bain taking on the role.

Twins Return After Two Decades

Now, nearly two decades after their initial appearance on the cobbles, Jake and Oscar Hartley have resurfaced in a new project. The twins, now all grown up, are featured in a Domino’s advertisement, alongside Alex Bain. The contrast from their time on the ITV soap is striking, as they embark on a comical pizza-related adventure.

Twins’ Pizza Battle

In the shared video, Jake and Oscar engage in a comical battle as they compete to reach the door where the pizza delivery awaits. The light-hearted ad showcases their playful rivalry as they playfully push and jostle each other to secure their pizza.

Caption and Appreciation

The twins shared the Domino’s ad on their official Instagram accounts, humorously captioning it: “DOMINOS – Tearing loved ones apart since 1985.” They expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work alongside crew members from various notable productions, including Barbie, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Spider-Man. The twins also thanked their agents for facilitating their return to television and concluded their post by acknowledging the great cast they had the pleasure of working with.

Post-Coronation Street Ventures

Following their brief appearance on Coronation Street, Oscar and Jake have ventured into other television projects, appearing in shows like Doctors, Mount Pleasant, and The Other One, among others.
