Wizkid’s mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, passed away on August 18, 2023, leaving a profound void in her family’s life.
Her passing prompted the family to make arrangements for her burial, which were shared on social media via an e-flier.
Burial Arrangements
The family had planned a wake and tribute event in honor of the deceased, scheduled for October 12. Following this event, the funeral was set to take place on the next day, October 13.
The wake and tribute event in Lagos provided family members and loved ones an opportunity to bid farewell to the late Jane Dolapo Balogun.

During the wake and tribute event, Wizkid was given the microphone to share his thoughts and emotions about his late mother.
In a voice filled with emotion, he expressed the depth of his feelings and the profound sense of loss he experienced.
He conveyed his love for his mother, saying, “I’m lost without you, Mom. I love you so much.”
A Close-Knit Family
Wizkid, born on July 26, 1990, in Surulere, Lagos, grew up in a polygamous family with a Muslim father and a Christian mother.
His mother was a familiar presence at many of his concerts and events, demonstrating the strong bond between mother and son.
Jane Dolapo Balogun’s Legacy
Born on July 14, 1957, Jane Dolapo Balogun left behind her husband, M.O. Balogun, and four children: Yetunde Balogun, Omolara Osunkoya, Olubusayo Balogun, and Ayodeji Balogun, who is widely known as Wizkid. Her legacy also extends to her many grandchildren.
