Friendships in the entertainment world can be as unpredictable as the industry itself.
Gordon Ramsay and Gino D’Acampo were once one of television’s most entertaining duos, teaming up with Fred Sirieix for their hit ITV series Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Road Trip.
But behind the laughter and camaraderie, tensions were brewing long before their friendship took a turn for the worse.
A Family Feud Brewing
Long before their professional fallout, Ramsay and D’Acampo’s relationship hit a personal snag in 2019 when Ramsay’s teenage daughter, Tilly, started dating D’Acampo’s son, Luciano.
Both 17 at the time, the young couple made headlines after meeting on the set of their fathers’ show.
But Ramsay wasn’t exactly thrilled—he called the romance a “nightmare” and tried to downplay their connection, much to the amusement of talk show audiences.
Meanwhile, D’Acampo took the situation lightly, teasing Ramsay about their kids’ relationship and even joking that it annoyed him.
Ramsay’s concerns over the romance resurfaced when he inadvertently interrupted one of their dates on a FaceTime call.
While filming Gordon, Gino and Fred: American Road Trip, Ramsay and his co-hosts rang Luciano, only to discover he was dining with Tilly at one of Gordon’s own restaurants.
The celebrity chef’s dismay was clear as his daughter cheerfully greeted him, much to the amusement of everyone else.
Fortunately for Ramsay, the romance didn’t last, and Tilly later found love at university, while Luciano’s current relationship status remains unknown.
Professional Tensions and the Show’s Demise
Despite their personal tensions, Ramsay and D’Acampo continued working together for several years, traveling Europe with Fred Sirieix for Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Road Trip.
However, cracks in their professional relationship became evident in 2023 when D’Acampo announced his departure from the show.
He cited contract issues, insisting his friendship with Ramsay and Sirieix was too important to jeopardize over business disagreements.
But Ramsay didn’t seem convinced.
Speaking on a podcast, he expressed frustration over his co-stars’ work ethic, calling them “lazy” and revealing that their constant need for breaks made him look good in comparison.
He also hinted at deeper frustrations that weren’t made public at the time.
The Airport Incident That Strained Their Bond
One particularly embarrassing episode occurred in November 2022, when D’Acampo was caught by UK border security carrying cannabis while returning from a trip with Ramsay and Sirieix on Ramsay’s private jet.
Sniffer dogs singled out D’Acampo, and he was questioned by authorities.
Though he later explained he had been using it for back pain and was released without charges, Ramsay—who has always been vocal about his anti-drug stance—was reportedly furious.
The incident only widened the rift between the former friends.
Allegations Against D’Acampo and Ramsay’s Silence
The final nail in the coffin came with recent allegations against D’Acampo.
The TV chef is facing multiple accusations of inappropriate and intimidating behavior spanning over 12 years.
While D’Acampo has denied all claims, calling them “deeply upsetting,” Ramsay has remained noticeably silent, offering no public support for his former friend.
Reports suggest Ramsay himself raised concerns about D’Acampo’s behavior two years ago, which may have contributed to the end of their show and their friendship.
The timing has led to speculation that Ramsay “threw D’Acampo under the bus” as he tries to maintain his own reputation amid industry scrutiny.
A New Chapter for Both?
As D’Acampo faces the fallout from these allegations, he has moved forward with a new show Gino & Fred: Emission Impossible, produced by a different company.
Meanwhile, Ramsay continues to dominate the culinary television scene without his former co-host.
Their once-thriving friendship now appears to be a thing of the past.
Whether they’ll ever reconcile remains to be seen, but for now, it looks like one of TV’s most entertaining duos has gone their separate ways for good.
